Situated on the outskirts of Greenstead Green, close to the attractions of Halstead, lies this converted 1880’s Railway Carriage; The Carriage at High Barn Heritage.
Seven steps lead into the delightful open plan living space, where you can delight in peaceful evenings spent on the sofa, with a wall-mounted TV and DVD player providing entertainment. The kitchen is equipped with all the appliances you need; from the electric hob and microwave combination oven, to the handy dishwasher and fridge with ice-box; while a separate dining table is where you can host romantic meals night after night. As you tire, find the double bedroom, complete with soft furnishings and crisp bed linen, along with a chest of drawers and hanging space for your clothing.
Patio doors lead out to the private balcony, ideal for an evening drink amidst the tranquil countryside setting. As well as having Air Conditioning throughout, if the weather turns inclement, then the Electric Heating ensures a cosy stay. Steps to the front and back lead to charming outside spaces, with decked areas either side allowing for a breakfast cup of coffee through to an evening meal area if desired.
Welcoming and old-fashioned pubs start just two miles away, where you are able to sip pints and enjoy traditional good food, or venture into the market town of Halstead where you will be treated to a number of eateries, boasting everything from quality restaurants and country pubs to relaxing cafés and wine bars. There are also three supermarkets if you’d prefer to do your own cooking, and to make use of the BBQ provided.
For more culinary delights, the Suffolk market town of Sudbury has a selection of pubs, restaurants, and shops, as well as a rich history including being the home of Gainsborough. Pop your walking boots on and start exploring the surrounding area, with local walks to enjoyed from your doorstep, or head over to the Stour Valley Way to enjoy the riverside scenery as you ramble on.
Alternatively stay in The Carriage and observe the wildlife, such as pheasants, deer, and partridge which occasionally egress from the neighbouring quiet woodland. Once those are completed, check out surrounding attractions like the two heritage railways (Colne Valley Railway and East Anglian Railway Museum) with their vintage steam and diesel trains taking you on a delightful journey into picturesque countryside, or explore the charming grounds of Ickworth House, Melford Hall and the beautiful Hedingham Castle, all within an hour’s drive. The historical town of Colchester also offers its Roman Castle to explore and the renowned Colchester Zoo.
